Ananke & Chronos Welcomes Dexterous

Ananke & Chronos Welcomes Dexterous

We’re proud to announce the signing of Dexterous to Ananke & Chronos — a project with deep roots, serious legacy, and a renewed creative fire that feels perfectly aligned with where we’re heading as a label. This is not a comeback story. It’s a continuation.

First Release: Feet on the Floor

The first Dexterous release on Ananke & Chronos, “Feet on the Floor”, lands as a statement of intent. What began life as a deep, groovy House jam took a sharp left turn into a chugging, hypnotic roller — evolving soundscapes, slow-burning tension, and a groove that refuses to stand still. DJs who’ve been spinning the promo have been quick to draw comparisons to Deep Dish-era energy, and we’ll happily take that nod. That said, when Dexterous are in the lab, there’s no roadmap — just instinct, momentum, and wherever the music decides to go. (And yes… the original mix may still see daylight 👀) This is head-down, lights-low House music — built for long blends, late hours, and dancers who don’t need the drop spelled out for them.

In the Lab: Dexterous Today

Damon and Marcus have spent the last four years rebuilding their sonic playground from the ground up. Total gear heads? Absolutely. G.A.S. sufferers? Without apology. Every track passes through a legendary Soundtracs Jade ’90 analog desk, driven hard into SSL outboard compression for that rich, punchy, lived-in sound. Modern soft synths collide with vintage hardware, all woven together through modular Eurorack systems — patched, twisted, and abused until something unexpected emerges. Final masters are handled by Audio Animals, where the raw energy gets refined without losing its teeth. This is analog heart, digital brains, and pure House soul.

The Dexterous Legacy

Dexterous first sparked to life in the 1990s, when clubs were darker, tracks were longer, and electronic music was still being invented in real time. Damon, alongside original collaborator Anthony Mein, delivered era-defining reworks — including the now-legendary Dexterous mixes of Brainbug – Nightmare and Da Hool – Meet Her at the Love Parade. Those records didn’t just move floors — they meant something. Time passed. Projects evolved. But the essence never disappeared. When Damon and Marcus locked back into the studio years later, the connection was instant — familiar, raw, and unmistakably Dexterous. The fire was still there. Only sharper.

Marcus Pearson: A Deep-Rooted Architect

Marcus Pearson has been shaping electronic music since the early 1990s. From early white labels in 1992, through projects like Country Gents, Retrostate, and Eyereel Allstars, his work has consistently bridged underground credibility with musical depth. His productions and collaborations have appeared on respected labels including Strictly Rhythm, Open Bar, Duffnote, and Redstick, with chart success, Mixmag recognition, and releases featured across major compilations. In recent years, Marcus reunited with Damon Goss to reform Retrostate and later establish Rubicon Recordings — setting the stage for what would become Dexterous as it exists today.

Looking Ahead: Sound, Vision, Performance

Since 2023, Marcus and Damon Goss have been developing Dexterous as a live project, combining studio-produced material with live Eurorack modular synthesis, synced visuals, and immersive performance design. It’s a natural evolution of the project — forward-facing, tactile, and deeply rooted in the craft of sound.

Why Dexterous, Why Now

Dexterous represents everything Ananke & Chronos stands for: heritage without nostalgia, innovation without gimmicks, and House music made with patience, intent, and soul. We’re excited to welcome Dexterous to the family. Feet on the Floor is just the beginning.
